Virtusa Sucks...

We always think companies as stupid, etc... but this is the first time that I've seen a company that's brain-dead AND vindictive...

I joined Virtusa, and worked there for 3 years. When I came to the US on a L1 visa, I decided to apply for a MS degree. Once I got an admit in February, I informed my bosses that I was going away in August, and they were cool with it.

I transferred my job to a guy more than a month before I went away, and submitted my resignation. And immediately I was inundated with screeching HR, yelling that it was 'illegal' to switch from a L1 to a F1 visa. I did talk to my manager and he clarified that he would take care of it, and I pretty much let it go. Like a good boy, I returned the company equipment (a laptop), and came to school.

Of course, I could have been a little less lazy, and perhaps a little smarter and asked for the resignation letter before I quit, but the truth is that one doesn't think that a company can do stupid shit like this, and I've worked in a lot of stupid companies.

With the workload at school, I didn't really bother to follow up with them, and now that I have the time, if I send them mail, no one bothers to follow up. Mails sent to HR, and the VPs seem to get deleted... heh.. they might have added my name to the blocked list.

So, basically I am stuck with the company not paying me for my final month's work (Rs. 30, 000/-) and my experience letter, and not sure how to go about getting it back. After all, its been 13 months. There are other people stuck in this mess too, and they've worked for more years in Virtusa than the VPs or the CEO. Heh. Ironic.

And guys, if a company can be THIS petty & cheap, there is no saying what else they will be cheap or petty about. So in case anyone is joining Virtusa, please be aware that if you quit from on-site (irrespective of reasons), they will NOT give you what you should expect.
